The introducing of Hakkenshi/The Eight Dog Warriors in Nanso Satomi Hakkenden -Inukai Genpachi’s Edition-

Many opuses have been affected from Nansou Satomi Hakkenden, such as Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball and so on.

But Hakkenden isn't very famous even in Japan, let alone foreign.

Can I inform Hakkenden of foreigners and make it famous?

Forth, I decided to introduce Inukai Gepnachi, the warrior of "信(Shin/faith)".

・Inukai Genpachi's character

He has an orb engraved with the character "信(Shin/Faith)."

He has a peony-shaped birthmark on his right cheek (left cheek in the TBS special drama and OVA versions).

He was born as the son of a fisherman.

But he struggled to make a living and was taken in by Inukai Kenbei, a foot soldier for the Koga Kubo

And he was breastfed and raised from Inuta Kobungo's mother.

As a result, he and Kobungo became foster brothers.

As he grew up, he became renowned as a skilled arresting officer.

But after abandoning his job as a prison keeper and incurring the wrath of the Koga Kubo, Ashikaga Shigeuji.

So, he was imprisoned.

When Inuzuka Shino was suspected of being a spy at Horyu Tower, he was released to capture him, and fought with Shino.

After a draw, they fell into the river.

and they are later rescued by Kobungo, and learn about the fate of their past lives and the mission of Hakkenshi/ the Eight Dog Warriors.

Genpachi, Shino, and Kobungo made a relationship to be blood brothers, and set out on a journey to rescue the remaining Inukawa Sosuke.

He's a master of the art of arresting.

In addition to his deadly battle with Shino at Horyu Tower, there are many tales of his mastered martial arts, such as shooting into the eye of a monster cat on Mt. Koshin, and performing an act similar to Zhang Fei from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms during the final battle,.

Perhaps because he plays a relatively modest role in the original work, In fanfictions, his personality has a wide range, except for the fact that he is a kind-hearted person.

His personality can sometimes be the polar opposite, such as a "cool dandy" in the TBS special drama version and a "cheerful third comic" in the OVA version.

・In the Kadokawa film "Satomi Hakkenden/Legend Of Eight Samurai"  in 1983 (Actor: Ooba Kenji.)

He first appears as the enemy's rook, equipped with the red armor, and is tasked with attacking the protagonist Inue Shinbei and heroine Shizuhime, with a long spear.

However, after being hit directly by an orb of "信(Shin)"  while torturing and killing a child.

And after the power of Shinbei's flute, he has a change of heart, and in the final battle0, he is the first to step in front of the enemy's trap.

His compassion is not emphasized very much, and instead he is seen chasing village children for fun.

・In the TBS New Year's Special Drama "Satomi Hakkenden" in 2006 (Actor: Oshio Manabu)

"He's a cool and dandy man. He's a kind-hearted man who does everything for others"

He has a generally unfriendly and cold demeanor, and had the stoic thinking that women only dull his martial arts skills.

At first, he underestimated Inuzuka Shino, who worries about his fiancee Hamaji, as a worthless man, but he soon changed his mind after learning about the connections of Hakkenshi/Eight Dog Warriors.

On the other hand, he was also seen desperately trying to persuade the stubborn Inumura Daikaku.

About his fighting ability, he defeated the enemy that Inuyama Dosetsu could not defeat in the final battle by own, and was portrayed as quietly the strongest of Hakkenshi.

In the OVA "The Hakkenden" (Character Voice::Nishimura Tomohiro. He's the voice of SL Man in Anpanman and Tanno-kun in Papuwa-kun.

"He's a cheerful and kind-hearted person. He has a long face. The type of person we'd want to be friends with."

Initially, he likes sumo and daifuku, and was portrayed as a comical, kind-hearted character.

But as the script of opus changed, his rough and aggressive side came to be emphasized. Particularly, he has a bad relationships with Dosetsu.

In battle, he makes frequent use of the blade and rope with his hair, to knock down and bind his enemies.

In addition, in his fight with Shino, he used a naginata instead of a jitte.

I introduced both “Harem Protagonist as Hakkenshi” and “Garupan Captain Group as Hakkenshi”.

Needless to say,

"The Harem Protagonist as Inukai Genpachi ": Momonari Junta (DNA2)

"The Garupan Captain Group as Inukai Genpachi ": Anchovy (Anzio High School)

I think, that Junta who would later be known as the mega playbo is quite a warm-hearted person.

Although in the later stages of DNA2, it followed the example of Dragon Ball and turned into a clash of psychic powers, but it emphasizes his martial arts.

Anchovy can also be called a warm-hearted person in the sense that he is cheerful and caring towards her friends.

If I want to emphasize martial arts, then Junta may be the right choice, but if I want to emphasize warm-heartedness, then Anchovy is the right choice.
